US JUICE ® SYRUPS
.
The term "Syrup" is similar to the term "Concentrate." Whereas fruit juices are made by adding water to concentrates; soft drinks, sports drinks, and similar beverages are made by adding water to syrups. In the case of canned and bottled soft drinks, water with gas (carbonation) is added to the beverage syrup at the time of production. Syrups typically contain High Fructose Corn Syrup ("HFCS"). In food service applications, the mix ratio is usually five parts carbonated water to one part syrup for soft drinks, and seven parts water without gas to one part syrup for sports drinks. Sports Drink syrups typically contain isotonic salts. Fruit drinks, which do not contain any juice usually have a mix ratio of five parts water without gas to one part syrup.
